FDLRS-South Parent Services
FDLRS/South assists in the development of partnerships between families and professionals which allows for shared responsibility for improving the education of children who have special needs.
Services available to families and schools:
Educational activities for families about topics of interest to parents of children enrolled in Special Education programs. These activities are offered at FDLRS/South sites, as well as at schools and agencies in the community.
Educational activities for families of children attending daycare facilities with the purpose of enhancing parenting skills and providing information about child development and ways in which parents can work with their young child at home to promote learning.
"Coffee Talks" Informal gatherings of parents with Parent Services staff to address different topics of interest to families of children of all ages.
Our Parent Services Staff provide individual support and information to families about topics related to disabilities, education and family issues; as well as referral to other programs in the community.
Assist schools and districts in developing Family Friendly Schools, and provide assistance to school staff in implementing parent involvement strategies for parents.
Collaborate with agencies and programs in the community in planning and implementation of family conferences, fairs and any other event to educate families.
